Here are some of the most frequently asked questions at The Quilted Castle.com.
How much is shipping? TOP
We currently ship via the United States Postal Service for orders in the United States. Our shopping cart lists an "estimated" shipping price calculated based on the dollar amount of your order. We do not try to make money off of shipping charges. For orders over $20.00, if the estimated shipping price is $10.00, and it only costs us $5.00 to ship, then you will receive a $5.00 refund on your credit card or PayPal account (with a minimum refund of $1.00 to account for administrative time). We never add a handling charge to your order.
We understand there is a high level of dissatisfaction on the web with sites that charge exorbitant shipping rates. We try to be straightforward and fair and want to win and keep your business. If you ever have any concerns, please let us know by using the "contact us" page of our site: http://www.thequiltedcastle.com/contact.htm . We will respond in a timely manner and work with you to make sure you are a satisfied customer.
We may occasionally use shipping carriers other than the United States Postal Service at our discretion.
For international orders, if actual shipping charges are significantly higher than what is shown on your order, we will contact you to discuss the actual charges. We realize this may be an incovenience for our international customers, but we will do everything we can to come to a solution that is beneficial for both parties. If we cannot come to an agreement, your full purchase price will be refunded. Excess shipping costs will be refunded (e.g., if you buy 7 yards of fabric, you may be charged $26.00 for shipping. If we can fit your order into one priority mail international envelope, we will refund $13.00).
We do not know how much additional cost the taxes, duties and/or additional processing and handling charges will be when you have your order shipped to you internationally. We are not accountable for any of these taxes, duties or charges; they are your sole responsibility. We are not responsible for packages that are lost by the Postal System.
Note: The weight of some items (bags, etc.) or bulkiness (flannel or extra wide fabric) may cause our shipping estimate to be incorrect, and we may need to bill you more than the estimate to cover the actual shipping costs. If this happens, we will contact you before shipping your order.
What payment methods do you accept? TOP
We currently accept Visa & Mastercard payments on our web site. If you would prefer to send a check or money order, please email us via our "contact us" page, and we will work with you.
We used to offer Paypal as an option and have taken that down. As a seller we were having some issues with them and just decided to stop offering that as an option. However, we can still accept payments through Paypal. If you would like to send money that way then please let us know and we can work out the details with you.
What is the minimum amount of fabric I can order? TOP
The minimum cut for yardage is 1/2 yard. For all yardage in our sale category, the minimum cut is 1 yard. Beyond these minimum cuts, we can cut fabrics for your order in 1/4 yard increments. It is to your advantage to order multiple yards to save on shipping costs. We can ship six to eight yards of fabric (not flannel) to you at the same price as two yards.
How long will it take me to receive my order? TOP
We will make every effort to have your order shipped to you within 2-3 business days of receiving your order.
International orders typically take 6-10 days to reach you, though it can vary, based on volume processed by your local customs office. In extreme cases, packages can arrive 4-6 weeks after shipment, and rarely, even longer.
Will you give a discount for large group orders? TOP
Absolutely. We would love to work with your group or guild. Please use the "contact us" page so that we can establish your discount.
What is your privacy policy? TOP
Personal information and payment information is always kept strictly confidential. We will never rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or companies. Protecting our customers' privacy is as important to us as protecting our own.
How do I care for my rag quilt item? TOP
To care for your quilt, just wash in cold water on the delicate cycle and then dry on low heat. The more times it is washed, the softer and fluffier it will become!
When you receive your rag quilt, it will have been washed and dried once to start the ragging effect.
How much will my custom quilt cost? TOP
The cost of a custom quilt will depend on several personal preferences of the customer:
1) How big do you want your quilt?
2) The type of fabric you want used and how hard it is to obtain.
Quilts can be made from cotton, flannel, regular or vintage chenille, minky, homespuns/wovens or designer fabrics. Some fabrics are more expensive than others.
3) Whether you want batting or other fabric in the middle layer.
I typically use Warm & Natural batting from The Warm company which is 100% cotton. However, some customers make a special request to substitute flannel or other fabric can be used to increase weight and warmth.
4) Rag Quilts are made to order and are NOT returnable.
Return Policy TOP
Returns will be accepted for 30 days from the date of purchase (excluding sale items, rag quilts and cut yardage). Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Refunds will be given (less the original shipping charges) after deducting a 20% restocking fee. Returns must be in original condition to receive a refund.
Patterns and books are not returnable due to copyright laws.
Rag Quilts are made to order and are not returnable.
We reserve to right to cancel any order at any time.
Color variations and dye lots will vary somewhat, as will how the colors appear on various screen resolutions. The fabric swatches shown are almost always provided by the manufacturer of that particular fabric. If you are unsure of a color, please send us an email to inquire further or ask about purchasing a fabric swatch. We do not accept returns based on color variations/expectations.
